KASUGA was invited to create the interactive installation Lichtgestalten for the 30 years anniversary of brand agency KMS Team. The installation was exhibited during the celebrating event at Villa Stuck in Munich and offered every visitor the possibility, to intuitively experience a design process.
A high-resolution portrait of the visitor first dominates the six by four meters wide installation at the Vestibül — the entrance hall of the Villa Stuck museum. By positioning in front of the portrait, the visitor starts to customize his image in a fixed interval, using intuitive gesture control. The combination of the personal portrait image, color scheme, typography, controlled perforation, extrusion or molding pattern leads to designs that are each unique.
The result of this post-generative approach — the combination of user controlled design and intuitive experience — are theoretically more than eight billion ways. Each composed image is the personal output of an individual design process and a physical experience as a large size poster. The interactive touchless installation combines spatial experience with design and digital innovation with analog reproduction.
